Mr. Harry Guiang , Surveyor

Background & Bio

Raised on Oahu, Harry spent much of his early years around the ocean bodyboarding and surfing. He got his start in the maritime industry through joining the US Coast Guard and spent most of his four-year tour on the frigid waters of Lake Michigan. He was stationed in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and was deployed as a boarding officer and small boat engineer. After a few Midwest winters, Harry decided it was time to return to Hawaii in 2006. He worked as a port engineer for a local shipyard in Honolulu during the next 7 years building Z-drive tractor tugs, working on various government contracts and performing repairs on numerous types of vessels ranging from RHIBS to 190' supply vessels. After his time at the shipyard, Harry entered the Oil Spill Response Industry as the Engineer on a 130' OSRV, which he sailed on for 3 years. During that time, he was involved in numerous responses throughout the islands as well as training refinery and power plant personnel as first responders. Harry also holds endorsements as a Tankerman Assistant, STCW, and HAZWOPER. He spends most of his spare time playing basketball and is an avid golfer.
